Thoughts:
A collab album?? between two of my favorite artists??? "try" was quite literally a dream come true for me. Ada Rook and Lauren Bousfield's styles mesh so well together and create such a unique and awesome listening experience. The lyrics and meanings of many of the songs also hit me very hard, especially in a time where I'm struggling greatly with mental health, newly-realized traumas, and the fear I feel for me and my friends and family in this political atmosphere. my favorite lyric is from the first song in the album, lifeblood. "become what scares you and never look back". I think about it a lot, probably one of my favorite songs of all time.
I knocked this album down half a star simply just because I feel like some of the scream-y parts stick out and take a little away from the song they're in. It's a very minor complaint though, and the only one I happen to have about it.

Thoughts:
My sister introduced me to this album. I'm not super well-versed in vocaloid/vocal synth stuff, but Adachi Rei is my favorite synth in general and so I was really excited for it! And in some ways my excitement was paid off. This being a collab album featuring many different artists was very interesting and fun, and I loved seeing how different people responded to the prompt. It also tackles subject matter that I adore: how a mechanical/synthetic being approaches humanity and things tradtionally associated with humanity, such as identity, love, and death.
However, being a collab album is also its greatest weakness in my opinion. While the songs I liked were very strong and enjoyable, there were several songs I kind of hated, and many that were just plain forgetable to me. SMILE_OF_ABSOLUTE_DERANGEMENT and Glass Girl are probably in my top 3 songs of the album, but the experience is dampened by putting something like Visions (a song I did not enjoy at all) in between them. Its still better than a whole album of songs like Visions, but it also makes me mourn the bits of greatness that are stuck between unremarkable and suck-y songs.
Still, if you're a fan of Adachi Rei, or vocaloid in general, I would still reccommend this album greatly. The strong songs are very strong, and its still a fun listen!
